A few days ago , our " one horse " (ismail ) superior told us that a patient from some ward demanded for a compensation .

This weirdo patient asked for a hot , boiling cup of Milo from the staff . n he reminded the staff ; " I WANT IT REALLY HOT ! I WANT TO SEE SMOKE ( to signified it was really hot ) . " ...

staff bring him the HOT DRINK THAT THIS WEIRDO WANT .

this weirdo patient of all places he don't put , he put it between his leg , near the groin . (WTF ??!! )

weirdo soon fall asleep , n his hot drink feel that it was being sexual harrassed , decided to wake this weirdo up by scalding his groin .

OOOOOUCHHHHH !!! shouted this weirdo .

weirdo insisted that it was the hospital fault , the last thing i heard is , hospital is really going to compensate for this incident . WHAT THE WORLD HAPPENING ?

guess what my superior say ? .. he say agreed that we sld compensate , as the staff should not have given him the REALLY hot cup of milo that weirdo requested .

pple in the PRS department should not have agreed fully on compensation . instead sld asked for a compromise .

it no wonder there a rumor that whatever ridiculous compensation that the patients want , our hospital will surely , without question give in ! ..

what wrong with them ? do they even fight in the first place ? i know there a living example , my superior ! he's one who is scare of complaint letter , scare of speaking head on with a boiling relatives , he is one GOOD LITTLE BOY that the prs pple surely like !

who say customer are always right ?

if one can't even stand for it own company rights , do not even speak about " we need to improve on our services " . The company that u so yearn to improve will only prove to be a laughing stock in our inner circle .

1. A family . :The father whom on the surface doesn't show concern to u , but in fact do love each of his children equally .

The mother who trained me and my brother to fix our own breakfast since sec 1 . The no nonsence mother who instill a mindset that no matter which path we take : NEVER COMPLAIN .

The brother who reach home will always call me "JIE ! " , just melt my heart .

2. Wonderful colleagues ( plus a few asshole here n there )

3. Being a singaporean woman ! .. lol .. no joking .

4. Learn kendo.

If not because of the no4 , there will never be the number 5 .

i don't know is it just me , or that everyone seem to be moving on .

went for a colleague hm bbq , everyone just gather ard , n we started to say our life .

this friend began to say excitedly :: " EVERYONE ! I HAVE PASSED MY SQ INTERVIEW !! " ... everyone at the table just stare at him n awed , stare for a good few seconds , n everyone began to cheers n clap ! .. lol.

yea ! cheers to leaving this holy crap management .

yea , he is a scholar , breaking bond now meant he will have to paid appx. 30k ? .. but i believe when he went for the interview , i'm sure he tink hard abt this issue .

we all urge him to go fly with SIA a try .

i admire him . seriously .

at this moment , another colleague told us that she had applied for a sch in London to study Public health . She too can't wait to leave the place.

a few days ago , another colleague told me that she is deferring her bond to go aust this aug to study nursing .

Admire pple , these pple knows very clearly where they are heading .

of cos i have alot of things i want to do .

like : learnt a new language ( dialects not counted leh ) , learnt horse riding , learnt a musical instrument , work in japan ( i think i am crazy , but i tink it sound cool ) .

want to go running ... etc , but ...

Years passed , i grow up days by days .

22years old . I have defintely notice the lifestyle changes .

Comparing :

at 13yo , i don't use facial cleanser . i just wash my face with normal water n body foam . I remember my own father started to complain about my poor complexion T_T .

And that was the age that i started to take care of my skin .

at age 16yo , I dipped my ring finger into the pot of eye cream which belong to mom .

at age 17yo , I bought my 1st moisturer . i still remember that was "Nivea " , in some blue packaging . The price to me now is darn cheap . but when i was still a sec sch student , it really set me thinking for very very , very long .

And i didn't regret it .

however , on and off i will not adhere to the beauty routine .

facial cleanser + toner +moisturer

i feel slightly ashamed . haas.

i always tell myself that ; " i still young , don't need to take care of the skin now . " " at least i wash my face with a facial products "

Now i come to an age when i slowly understand the power of maintaining the skin that we have now .

one fine day i saw a fine line at the corner of the eye .... oh no !

began to be very hardworking , eye cream for 2 times per day .. but well , i used for like a wk ? .. lols .. den i began to forget abt it .. lols ..

But seriously , that line really vanished .

watsons seem to be a good friend of mine . ahahha .

whenever i am in lot1 , the place i will pop by is surely watsons .

it just like how auntie will pop by NTUC . same reason .

watsons seem to have a much more extensive range .

Now they have DHC , habo labo , Aqualabel from shisiedo , heme from taiwan , Freshel from kanebo ...

i have since bought ; eyelash tonic from dhc , a starproduct "hydrating lotion " by habo labo , cleansing oil from both aqualabel and kanebo :)

yea , pretty much all from japan.

i prefer asian products for a reason that i can't really pinpoint .

i just love asian products .

maybe in the next post i read a short review on the products i have tried . :)

dad admitted to ttsh on the night i was on my 2nd day of night shift .

was admitted to the next door of the ward . ahaha . so it was very convenince for me to pop by during my night shift .

Honestly speaking , seeing my dad resting on the patient bed is not a joking matter . however , i'm not very anxious.

i'm glad that the team of doctors who is taking care of my dad is a good team of doctors . n i'm glad that the nurses who is taking care of him are kind pple . usually , fellow collegues will take extra care of ur loved ones when they koe u personally .

i tried my best to be as low keyed as possible .

do not want the fellow patients in the same cubicle as my dad think that he receiving special attention cos his dg is a nurse.

But can see there a slight different from the way the docs tok to my dad n to other patients . All of them show a warm smile .

i was updated by a senior doc immediately .

when i went and visited him in the evening with mom , the juniors doctors come n update us when they saw me .

Dad have gallstones .

I can see that dad , my bro n my aunt is dead worried . But i felt nothing .

it might be thru my work , i come across many many patients with gallstones.

or it might be the diagnosis . Heard from my night duty missy , that the docs want to rule out pancreatitis .

Pancreatitis is the wrost of the wrost . so i was very relieved that it was not pancreatitis . n just gallstones.

I like war movies the best . not cause i am a sadist or i like history alot .

but i feel war movies is diffcult to depicts the emotion felt by those fighting in the war tt time .

Esp so for actor like my age where our concern is just our own self needs , worry for the country safety might be the last thing on our mind .

71 student soldiers are left to guard the nakong river by themselves . Holding the impt fort for the s.korea . Fending off the exp. nkorea .

these student soldiers depicts the emotion well , they in the state of confuse . Yesterday , they are still joking with each other , today they might very well bury the very own comrade who is laughing beside him .

War is cruel .

it hard to start a line .

well .

what should i write here ?

Guess life is pretty much about the same as compare to 3 mths ago .

One mth ago , heard tt our whole hepato (liver) team is leaving for good , make my heart drop .

Just when i starting to feel that GS is actually a fun tt place to be with .

Maybe it because of all those house officers make it fun as well ? or maybe i work one yr longer , know my work more ? .. i duno .

Work now have become pretty stagnant .

Everyday go to work , routine as follow : " sign in , check which team u in , check abx wat time due , check ur patients , GREET ur patients , receive reports , do saikang , serve med . Do saikang , relatives wanted a update . Do saikang , relatives wanted an update again . Do saikang , RELATIVES WANTED AN UPDATE AGAIN. pass over shift .

The next working day , same thing follow .

One particular night shift , i am very pissed with this patient.

Not because he keep demanding to change his diaper , demanding that he fan is low at this moment and high another moment .

But his potassium level is sky high , without intervention , his heart may face tachycardia , which eventually will just stopped without him or us knowing .

With his interest at heart , both me and his team doctor , persuaded him , coaxed him and nagged at him .

Do all these thing for 30 mins , he just simply refused .

of cos i can ask the doc to change the oral route med to a rectal route , which is WAY MORE EASY for me . but i know this patient don't like things to be stuck to his ass .

after 30 mins he snapped (before me ) ,

He stared his eyes big , and say " aiyo , irritating !!! "

me : " why? "

he : *roll his eyes* "irritating !!! "" IRRITATING AS YOU !!!! "

I was taken aback . i was so pissed when he say this .

n i retorted back .

the doc who have been standing beside me for the past 30mins started asking what happen tt i so angry .

Then i discover that i am more sad than angry .

i do not understand why , for his good , i coaxed him to eat his med , which i know might be irritating . but if he swallow his med once for good , who will want to disturb a sleeping patient ? .

I have to admit , tt i get pretty agitated these days .. i don't know why .

I think i am abit of tired seeing my patients despite that i am given off days .

i discussed with the doctors that if i was them , i will stop all the blood test for him and abx.Just continue the fluids and oxygen , giving him enough painkillers , to make him feel better .

My reason is simple .
Medical cost is just too much .
He in this state if u told me that you can treat him .

yesh . maybe medically . but what about in the future ?he is just still be lying dwn in the bed , all daily activites need to be cared for .
additional costs will come into the pics.

The doctors is surprised.

Sometimes nurses might seen more than them .

What does a nurse really do?

below is a feedback from a pt who is a pain in the ass who had FINALLY left the hospital ...

This is a note, reproduced largely verbatim, left recently at a nurse's station at a rehabilitation unit in Detroit by a difficult patient upon his discharge from the unit.

Dear [Nurse],

I wanted to thank you personally for teaching this old dog new tricks. I always thought that nurses were basically the doctor's handmaidens. I thought that the sexy little stereotype portrayed on television with the nurse doing sex in the linen closet with whoever was correct. I looked upon your profession badly, and I sincerely apologize.

What I have found during my stay in your care, is a completely different story (and I won't say [you're] not sexy, [because] you are, but you made it clear you don't date patients, but just in case I am leaving my number at the end here). Anyway this is what I want to say, and I think each patient should be given a copy of this part on admission to any nursing facility and hospitals should be known as nursing care providers, because a patient enters the hospital for nursing care. I found this out during my stay. I had nurses 24 hours a day every day I was hospitalized, I had maybe 10 minutes a day with the doctor. So here goes my opinion of what every patient needs to know.

1. You have been placed in the hospital for nursing care.

2. The provider of that care is an educated individual who unselfishly dedicates themselves to your health and well-being. And even though you may not like being told what things are good for you and what are not, the nurse telling you does so to give you a chance to redeem your health and well-being.

3. That provider is proud to be a nurse.

4. That nurse does more than you know. She plans your care around your medical condition, emotional state, abilities to do for yourself (sorry, [nurse], I think you said "self care" in your rant), that nurse provides support to you and your family, she/he is the link between you and the doctor, [and] the everything in the facility.

5. That nurse does your bedside care, she knows what medicine you need when, and how to give it. She knows what all the tubes and stuff are and what they are used for and what to look at them for.

6. That nurse can hang an IV or hold your hand and reassure you.

7. That nurse watches over you and reads monitors and knows when [you're] sleeping and when [you're] awake and pulls strings to get you that cup of tea at 3 a.m.

8. That nurse is your lifeline, she can call a whole team of professionals together with her calm voice and make them work their [butts] off for your life with the flash of her/his eyes.

9. That nurse will wish you luck and give you all the instructions you need when you leave her competent care even if you were the biggest pain in the ass she ever met.

10. The nurse is why you are in the hospital and why you will go onward, be it home, perpetual care, or the morgue, she will insure that you do so with your dignity and rights intact. Why? Because it is what a nurse does.

after tt day i had a active resusication case , the next morning , i receive a pt wif pneumonia .

PNEUMONIA ! haa , i must be tinking .

but pi leh , when the pt reach us , she was gasp for air so much so a respiratory therapist was with her .

my ward sister immediately attend to her . they had to remove her trachy n the general med docs fail to reinsert a new one . Bad situation till we had to call for ENT surgeons to help us ... lols.

afterwhich i read the casenotes , her diagnosis is "TYPE 2 REESPIRATORY FAILURE " .. -_-

I tink for these few days i better at least wash my feet n hands before go to work .. lol ...

and no eating of any bao too !!

one of my dear patient is on continous infusions ; IV heparin . (for the anti coagulation ) . n we haf a certain protocol tt drs can follow , like the blood test came back , if the PT/INR is ard a certain range , the total of units (heparin comes in units ) will be adjust accordingly .

she said : when the pt/inr hit 25 CAN stop the heparin .

me: okay ( but was thinking , dun care on call dr will decide )

........

next morning .

the results had been reviewed by the on call . PT/INR was 26.7

but heaprin was still continue .

she began to question me . : EDI ! i thought i told u to stop the heparin once the inr hit 25 ?

i stare hard n cold at her : THE DOCTOR REVIEWED HER and SAY TO WAIT FOR THE PRIMARY TEAM DOCTORS TO DECIDE IF THEY WANT TO STOP HER HEPARIN .

..... flipped to the team plans the day before n point it n again stare hard n cold at her : "KIV OFF HEPARIN !" (KIV=keep in view or maybe )

she fell slient after tt .

again trying to find fault again .

ask me : eh , how cum the heparin nv adminstered ? .

me : *stare at her really hard now * the medicine is not adminstered by me , but u , n i didn't even dilute the heparin !

(if anything is wrong i haf to answer ,even though i did nth , i thinking this way . )

n u sign on the paper imr , wat wrong to adminstered it in the EIMR again . %^&&$&^&*((!!

some pple u seriously cannot work hand in hand with them .

when she out of her working uniform , she is very nice to be .

hospital seem to be very high tech nowadays , but i do not least appreaciate the use of all those thing .

for one , high tech is meant to make life simpler n easier.

but it not the case.

fyi . now serving medicine , we no longer sign our name on the paper medicine record , or we call IMR .

We use PDA .

this PDA is a fuss .

1. It doesn't scan really good.

2. it doesn't show what time is the last given time for the drugs .

3. it is not senstive AT ALL ! (how i wish tt the hospital provide a apple alike PDA !) .

4. it is very BULKY N HEAVY.

now on top of all these fuss ard.

our beloved ttsh is coming up wif OMNICELL .

it sound cool right .

1. we haf to koe exactly how much is one tablet or one ampoule of drug is .

2. the screen is confusing , n it is not idiot proof .

Now there is these enginners following us , cos we just started using.

on top of tt , as our PDA is bit cranky too , a PDA guy is following us .

I have a love-hate relationship with my job. The initial fetish for human physiology, the intriguing combination of art and science, and the 14-year ambition I never quite doubted, have quite unfortunately taken the back-seat in 9 months of work life.

And it all culminated with the last call. Amidst running around like a headless chicken, calling for urgent referrals, caring for sick patients, and coerced into making ridiculous changes, I was accosted by the anxious hubby of a pregnant patient admitted for labour induction. It was past midnight, and he was so appalled that the consultant was only able to review his wife the next morning, that he dropped a comment.

"You guys have no pride in your profession. Doctors must be there for their patients round the clock."

I mumbled a half-hearted apology, indignant by the unfeeling accusation.

Truth be told, Singapore is not quite the medical hub the ministry portrays itself to be. Despite its new technology, foreign talent and what not, things come to a standstill at night and over weekends, when the doctor-patient ratio droops to a ghastly number.

For a hundred bucks or so, junior doctors are rostered for an additional night of work on top of their daily duties. Apart from keeping sick patients alive, this includes finishing leftover work from the day, catering to miscellaneous chores like being the on-call phlebotomist, re-sitting plugs, acceding to unreasonable demands of patients and nurses, all the time entertaining an endless stream of calls while praying that the phone battery will last till the morning.

It is always an easier option to buckle under the pressure, walk out of the hospital, leave tasks undone or ignore legitimate complaints. Why bother pleading for referrals and scans, calling up the world and getting reprimanded just so things could move that little bit faster? Why get involved with menial work that is nothing clinical? When the auxiliary staff are “not certified” for the task, the doctors pick up the pieces. But really, why did I even attempt a bladder scan I was never taught to do in my 5 years in medical school – the simple reason being it is for the patient.

Talk about pride to me? I’m sorry but my pride’s long gone for the benefit of my patients.

Don’t expect healthcare workers to provide the service of a 5-star hotel. The Hippocratic Oath we took says nothing of extra services thrown in, what more with the shortage of manpower. If need be, engage a private physician to cater to your whims and fancies. We aren’t altruistic enough to worship you like an omnipotent being, or indulge you with service fit for a monarch.

But believe me, we truly care for our patients.

My first favourite pt passed away this morning .

there no tears from anyone of us .

i duno why.

it may be due to tt , we see too many such cases , tt we are immune to it ?

a person is dying , dragging on with life , with the help of dopamine , atropine , fluid challenges .

All these are what we are seeing frequetly.

With the drop of a blood pressure , dopamine and intravenous drips comes into the pics.

Life is full of twisting n turning .

this fav patient , was once our longest staying patient . utimately , they able to discharge her to go to a nursing home , which is a good news .

Then , one fine day .

We all received a call from ED resuscitation room .

on the other line : " female , xx yrs old , xx name ... sepsis secondary to UTI , on doapamine infusion " .

we all think , can't be the same pt rite ? ..

but when she reached , she is really the same pt .

all of us took turn to pop in and say hello to her .

she too , wave to us like she saw her old friends .

all the while she is so super fine .. doing pretty good .

Finally she gotten her wish, to take out the trachy .

The wretched trachy tt always ooze out all the sputum n make her feel uncomfortable .

She was so excited when i asked her , "are they gg to take it out today ? "

she nodded so excitedly , it seem like i am talking to a little child n say , come on , let us go to the amusement park .

how come a person seem so fine , can suddenly took a turn for the worse ?

i duno how she feel n did she tink of anything about her life when she is struggling with her last few breathes .

Honestly speaking , though i worked in a medical field , ... Death have nv occur to me before .

i seriously have never thought of death ... how sld i face it .

in exact fact , i rest a total of 9 days after working a straight 10days .. LOL !
2 day off over last wk wkend, den monday oso day off . AL offically started frm tuesday till sat . Den sunday was my day off again ...

didn't do much thing leh , well ...er ... i suppose .
I keep telling myself , I MUST CLEAR MY ROOM OF ALL THOSE RUBBISH or watsoever during these off days , but i didn't . -_-!

I too , keep telling myself , I MUST AT LEAST PUT ON MY RUNNING SHOES AND GIVE RUNNING A DARN TRY , but i didn't as well . -_-!!

since tt last sunday outing wif the kendo kakis , complaining to them the lifeless world of a staff nurse which made it worse tt all the pts are ah peks n uncles . If only there young guys tt can help to inject sum colours .

true enuff , this wk , one cubicle tt i incharge haf 3 out of 6 is 20plus . (grinning... hoohoho)

the chest tube sessions ... lalala ...

so much so tt i am a ta bit worry abt the audit tt i will b ask re: chest tube .. blah blah ..

working a total of 10 days of no off days !

cos i am starting my AL from tuesday onwards !

gosh ! been almost a mth tt i last updated .

Many many events happened here n there.
Been working for think almost 4mths, though it hectic but i wld still say it still pretty interesting.
The problems we face are challenging though sum patients i wld tink them as sai kang .
But tt wat make a whole system work , nth is perfect.

1. Numerous birthday celebration
Didn't manage to go to yiwen , as i am working on tt day ... i feel so darn bad tt i didn't go.

Not forgetting my own bdae ... tks frens for cuming over n esp those hu came early to help .. hee ... will try to post up the pic .. haa ...
Wanted to join collegues to drink after they left my place , but still gt sum other frens in my hse , so cannt go wif them ...
but there always next time.

Jasmine bdae ; lol ... am i working on tt day ? oo .. no , i at my ward chalet .

2. Facing with real active resuscitation .
It was a really eye opener ...
i done the cpr ... but the air matterest was nt deflated , so haf to use more strength. Can feel my prespiration dripping dwn .. lol ...
Have a sudden feeling tt i am finally working in the medical line.

I feel i am not really prepared to face grieving family as yet , even though i do not need to speak to them .
I do not know wat i cld say , n wat i cldn't say .
Lets' just say life is super vulnerable .

3. Our HOs last day in our ward .
I defintely say i am missing them very much .
Cos both them n us when we came in during april , we are new.
All of us make mistake here n there . They ask us wether can they do this do tt , but in the end they all helping us to learn as well.

Rmb the time we all use to just gossip .. even for a short while.
All of us are just like frens .. so fun .
Despite been stress , but it always glad to know tt u haf a good doctor hu will always finish their work before they go home .

We duno y is certain test done , we just ask them , they will surely b glad to help us ...
I missing them ..
They know our names well ..
When we call them , they will go like ... " Oh , are u edi ? " .. den both of us started toking in mandarin .

They are great pple to work wif :)

4.Not forgetting the 10th batch .
Although nt been gg out tt often with them, i feel bad too.
Wanted to tell u all ...
in fact , i look forward to every outing with u all , it my greatest pleasure to b able to laugh n move freely wif u guys ! :)

HAPPY NURSES DAY !!!!

supposely was my off day today , but i specially went back to the dear tan tock seng to celebrate nurses day !

lol .

well, gosh ! i can't believe i will one day be blogging about the life being a nurse myself .
Reach the hosp celebration ground , both me n xin hui , immediately chiong all the way to the food !!

FOOD FOOD !!! well, can't expect much rite ? ... afterall it is hospital food . lol .
but it still taste decent la .

the performance is superb . our lvl gotta second price ... the 1st went out to the pple from PACU , i haf to say tt theirs is really good !!!

afterwhich went down to starbucks to buy coffee .. hee .
i always love the end of the mth friday . Cos gt 50per cent off !! woots .. heee ...
den wait awhile for the drink n den was thinking sld we wait for james at ttsh .. lol ...

decide to go find wat places to go makan .. lol ...
suggested tonkichi. So scare tt they won't like it .. phew they like though la , still nt tt bad.
But this time round , didn't manage to wolf down 3bowls of rice by myself like last time with yiwen they all ... ha .

haf to admit , i thought there will b a few pple . LOL. but it turn out tt there was only me n meien and two HOs. lol ... the feeling is like; " woah ! "
although felt strange , but i feel tt the atmosphere is nt bad la , cos the company is great .

one of the doctor commented tt he is suprised that we female can finish our meal .
i was stunned .
den he told me tt the girls he knew dun eat like us, they eat those healthy green stuff .
first time pple commented this to me ! ha.
guess tt afterall , doctors n me are from different world . lol ...

but i think i gonna miss them much .... cos all of them are nice :)

I HAVE A NEW LIFE RECORD !

i did not do these thing for the past 10hours on a microwaveable friday ;

1) drank a single drop of water , only drank my saliva.

2) went to the toilet AT ALL.

3) eat anything till5pm.

... and surprisingly , i was pretty clearheaded . But i am pretty pissed on tt day.

But the starbucks 50% is the comfort !!! tks xinhui n meien for helping us buy :) Sat in the staff room n munch wat they bought back n tok crap , is a real comfort. Now i finally understand the meaning of why japanese salarymen like to drink alchol before they head home .

BUT BUT BUT !!!!

The main reason i am blogging today is ..

mistakes are making here n there , but i am glad we all have very ncie seniors whom guide us along patiently .
very nice doctors (most ) though the occasion one or two are a pest.

yst , went serious window shopping wif my collegue . And all the shops bring sparkles to my eye ! Since how long have i went window shopping ? .. whahaha ... i duno .

SIAN sia ... my offday kena eaten by the hosp for a orientation .
Den worse cum the increase cases of H1N1 cases in singapore , there major deployment . Though our 3 of the staffs frm our ward are deployed , but it causes damaage to our working hours .

Instead of a 5/6 days work week . It becum a 6 days work wk ... hais ..

Shall not complain more liao . I been thinking how to spend my free sunday . During breaktime yst , chatting wif collegues ... den we all decided if it is spend on sleeping , den like a bit of wasteful . Studying ? hais ... i suppose so bah ...

i starting to feel the stress level .

I am getting very irriated .

I am getting very frustrated .

I hate people who thought they are the one and only one.

Some people are getting on my nerve .

Some scolded us thinking they know alot of things.

and,

i don't know when i started to smile only when i need to .

it very disheartening when someone u work with during student period telling you something negative , i remember once this physiotherapist told me when we were writing cases at the same time.

he told me this , " Edi, when u were a student , u smile alot , smile very radiant (i know u all dun puke ) , talk alot to the patients . ... etc etc . "

at that point of time , i am seriously thinking ; am i not smiling ?

Seniors told me i look very stress , all of them ask me do i need any help.

now i am seriously thinking , do i REALLY need some help ?

Although the nature of this job is very demanding and sometimes to the extend of ridulous demanding , i somehow not regretting joining as a nurse .

i like it not because there is alot of shuai ges doctors to look at, but rather itself that i like it cos it is very challenging , nth is the same everyday!

hello once again :)

been busy with the hosp orientation . Yes, i am already a staff nurse in ttsh . When i reached home , i just practically wanted to nua in my bed and don't want to move.

as u can see from the banner . yes , we are gg to a temple . Kiyomizu temple . It is a really awe temple .. ( i will describe why it is awe !! .. ha )

This is the driver hand. i guess in jap context , good services is very impt . Even when he is driving , the driver was still wearing the friendly no-show- teeth smile . Talk about professionalism. Awe ~~~~~ ( i didn't took pic of his face, if i did , i b like a bian tai woman ). ha.

okay .. so after sum time , we reached liao .. lol .. actually we all duno is it there .. but we just see everyone alighting , so we alighted too . Talk abt monkey see , monkey do.

Bought sum amulets from here . They sold almost anything u might wish for. From love luck , to have better relationship , to save delivery . I bought "variety of wishes " heheee .. cos i gt too much wishes !!!! hehehee ..

making a descend from the temple ... saw these tree that haf not bloom ... i duno if it is sakura or wat. But imagine all of it is sakura ! How magnificent it will be !

Walking walking , feel like gg to toilet , as we spotted one. Though not very in need of a toilet , but since toilet is a rare thing in japan , once spotted have to go .

But so much for been rare , the toilet tt we wanted to go , is so stinky tt we wait outside while the guys finish their business. haa ...

founded a udon shop at the bottom of the hill , it added those nostagic feeling which set u thinking " arh , temple food ! "

i can't really remember wat they sell though . haa ... we all order the kitsune udon, christ n gab order additional dish, "dango " . Saw sum other diners eating out from this big bucket , christine say it is beancurb ! how special !

Kitsune udon !!! This is the best kitsune udon i ever had ! doubt i can find it back in singapore . One of the main thing i will miss from japan !

We paid ard 600yen for this simple , yet heartwarming dish . 600 yen ard 9bucks in singapore.

Very strange lor, if it is in singapore , i wld not even part with my money for a noodle wif beancurb skin. But in japan , i part wif it willingly, n i glad tt i tried !

after a very nice meal , we continue wif our singapore leg to explore the area !!

We walked up to the top , den saw tt haf this museum , thought of gg in.

Den when we saw the admisson fee n it just showcase artefacts , so we skip it .

slowly we walked into yasaka-jinja . It was less crowded than compare to er lian ban .

LOL . I remember when christine say " i saw tako yaki stall .. " , both me n mk turn sharply n headed towards the tako yaki direction . My first tako yaki in japan !! whooohoo ~
after tt walk walk ard , without an aim to go whr , we just go to wherever the road lead us to . haa ... actually was rather nice ... with the nice weather , beautiful people , beautiful places ... mood will defiently b very good.

Saw alot of stalls been set up . Apparently they are getting really for the customers coming to view sakura in the coming weeks.

Okay , this is outside of the place . We walked to the streets opp us . If i not wrong , we did go to gion too . But cos of the timing , it is already too late , so we headed back to kyoto stn.

Yiwen was saying the inn recommended pple to try ramen at here . It at level 10 . Been really hungry and the ramen addict ; mr mk. we took the escalator all the way up ! it is really high ! ..

have to brave cold wind gushing against our faces to be able to eat ramen ! the other 4 idoits choose to climb the stairs ! whahaahhaa ... while i took the escalators !

ramen heaven ! It is say to have the best 7 ramen shops ard kyoto under one roof !

and all the ramen shops uses vending machine for pple to order thru it .. darn special ! we all are like a mountain turtle , duno how to use ! lol .

Not long after we seated dwn , the noodles was served . Talk about effecient ,

This is the inn that we are staying in " Budget inn kyoto " , their owners speak really accented angmoh .. n ya , they have alot of angmoh staying there too ..

the taste of this japanese curry is enuff to make me miss home cook food . although it look simple enuff , but the taste is something that is really hard to find in singapore .

After that on a full stomach .. we begun our quest .. haa .. we will follow wherever our leg bring us .. haa ..

forgot how much she paid for these yakult. But anyway, the japanese was cute la ... the customer paid for 2 mini size yakult .. lol ..

currently , i am miles and miles away from singapore ...

few days ago we are in kyoto .
Now we are currently in osaka.

Personally i will prefer osaka over to kyoto.
Kyoto does have it own beauty. In fact , i think i had never admire nature to a very big extend in singapore ! i wld nt say they are very traditional, but sumhow, they are very discpline bah. They are not loud, their youngsters dress very normally.

Osaka itself , is very much like singapore ... haaa ... once we reach here today , i can immediately feel my life been lifted up !!! wooots !!
The people are loud ,which made us feel at ease ...
Finally there a place for us to tok in a normal tone without feeling paiseh ... haa ... which we did over in kyoto. lol...

called me a singaporean! osaka people , as christine say are more laid back .. haa ..

okie .. yiwen calling me liao .. gg to makan our second rounds of food ! haaa ..

the convenience stores haf been our best frens for these past few days !! lol ..

Batam Trip Day 2 - 14.03.09

here is the 2nd day .

wake up slightly eariler for the spa trip .. order delivery .. when the person knock on the door , it took us ages to open the door , as we r still lazing in our bed ., haa .. the apartment doesn't haf a door bell ...n a peep hole too ... there is nt a sense of security ..

but anyway .. quicky makan our breakfast .. i rmb i ordered soto ayam , but when it came .. it is different from the soto ayam we all order in singapore. their verison is , their noodles is bee hoon style .. which i felt taste weird . But it is still nice.

after tt all of us quickly get ready ...

i think we are too fast .. lol .. we haf to wait for maureen and her mom for some time ..

upon reaching .. we saw something that amaze us totally .

Why ? .. on closer look .. it something like a flower . However , wat they did , remind me of funeral . Sorry .

after the spa session ended .. we rush off to the hair salon.

As tt time they only have one car , so the other 4 of us have to wait. Good la, amanda they all eat good food ..

I have to take away a&w and eat it on the road ...

btw the service at the a&w is so much better than all the services u can find in singapore .. the smile is so nice and warm .

Total 6 of us there ... total time spend there ? frm close to 1pm to 7.25pm. omg ... darn slow rite ..

very boring there . There is only malay language magazine , and all is so outdated , so much for being a hair salon. The only tv doesn't even show a proper show, keep jumping , reception not good. And while flipping thru sum pages of a random magazine , saw "Rudy (forgot the another name ) " , i think it is sumthing like jean yip , have sum sch of their own .

I think i am use to experience wat i received from singapore ... everything is fast .. so when they are doing lesley hair n mi hair , i can't help but think they are very slow . They didn't even offer a cup of tea or drink for you . If u wan , u have to pay . So much for services .. okie la , i cannt expect much , okie .. chill.

you can say that another part of the culture shock.

counted as my graduation trip wif my nursing frens...

So early that when i mit wif lesley n sieliu , my eye is half open ! My eyes already so small .. if half open.. even smaller .

took a taxi dwn .. we all jux like a dead fish waiting to b transported over to another place ... lol ..

anyway .. reached habourfront ferry terminal, mit up wif the rest ..

n went to buy ferry tickets .. woots .. i can feel the thrill of travelling wif frens ( although it only batam ) .. wooots .. lalalalala .. .

buy j.co donuts .. was cheap compare to singapore .. for a dozen, ard 6.9 sing dollars. planning is our breakfast for tmr ..

our next stop is to the salon to choose the colour that we want to dye. A pretty bad salon for singapore standard i wld say . Alot of colours they dun haf ! haix .. but i glad i found the colour i wan...

when we went back ... sieliu n yanyin haf oreally bathe n jux woke up from their nap ! omg .. but we gt ta pao food for them as well ..

this is our dinner. Darn nice .. when we are ordering the food , face alot of constrict... as we koe sieliu haf sum form of allergy to seafood .. den a number of us cannot take spicy food. so in the end, this is what we order.

After bathing , all of us sneak next door to catch ch u de "perfect cut2 " lol ...

look at sieliu .. lol .. the j.co donuts which we suppose to eat for tmr .. becum our snack while watching tv..

i manage to hide away from this on the 1st DAY !!!!! heee ...

I koe this is late , but i still want to say i am back from Batam.

A trip wif nursing friends . We have alot of fun here n there , endless laughters .. certain amount of culture shock.

Batam certainy change alot from years ago what i seen.
The things there are CHEAP ! the food is sibeh CHEAP !
But i still prefer singapore !!!
call me a true blue singaporean !!! :)

i try to upload the photos these few days ...

went for kendo training yst, sibeh tired.
meet them for a meal, amanda present us a gift each !! haa .. so nice of her ... did not forgot us when she travel oversea..

saw a news yst , which left me feeling angry.
a 28yo man cross the expressway, casuing massive cars collide n jams... but he only suffer from some slight abrasions ...
instead an innocent man die.. being pinned under a lorry ..

because of this 28yo man , someone haf to pay for his action...
when i saw his face in today straits time .. i can't help but feel like giving him a good beating ...
there is no such excuses as .. " i drank too much , in the end i ended up in expressway ."
however , as pple say .. it is just yet another unforunate accident that can happened to mankind.

ages since i updated my blog.

well , didn't really do much thing .. been slacking as will be working real soon .. haix.

went to christine showcase abt a wk ago. Saw alot of beautiful drawings here n there . but when u see the owner of the artworks , will never believe thats' is actully their work.

they put in alot of efforts , sweat n tears (maybe, lol) ..

i do like christine's works. Not that she is my friend that i say this. But i truly like what i see. Very simple.
I feel that she doesn't conform to what the society want , but rather she bring out what she want the world to see.
You can see christine in her works. When you see her works, you will say , " arh, christine u are there".

Saw hong yi works too. Doesn't really know him really that well , but know him when we were pull into a student club. haa .. his works also give a refreshing feel ...
i was taken aback when he say to christine .." ooo , that missy ! " .. he told christine he talked to me when we were year 1 .. omg.

although i can remember details well, but i sumhow dun rmb i did tok to him. haa .. but nvm .. haa .. he is a nice chap though.

went for training since it resumed. cos i haf nothing to do at hm .. haa .. yiwen they all was saying , we must go trim off all the "potential" muscles !!

the 1st training is darn tiring .. n mi muscles can completely feel the stretch ..

as promised, mi entry on sun .

sun::

I would say it a fufilling day.

I woke up at 6plus , as i haf previously promised mi mom tt i would go with her to the park .

however, i dun really regret.

somehow , i begun to see the other side of life.

waking up early , doesn't seem as bad as it sound.

Doing excersing , it not as bad as it seem too ..

i thought i cldn't even run 100m, but in the end, i ran 3 rounds, much to the astoinment of mi relative. lol ..

i koe i am lazy . But at least i still run , despite panting like a dog.

finally get to eat breakfast.

i almost fall asleep when mi aunt start to yank away about her life ... pardon me , as it something that she has repeated for like 3 times .

den we went to place ard jurong, found another aunt working there , .. n she again begun to yank away.

This is the good time for me to practise patience.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE . (i must "ren" )

saw those old old shophouses , which i dun c in mi estates anymore. The things they sold, like clothes , is totally like yesteryear.

i feel like i haf step back on a time .

although it seem like yesteryear, but sumhow , the smell and the sight , everything seem so familar to me ..

.. n .. it even felt heart warming too. it like it not part of singapore .

saw an angmoh in the heartland.

wat so strange ? ..

cos the angmoh is buying thing from those roadside stall. Those selling those pans n pots ..

it really interested me.

So i stand sumway near him to observe him for a moment.

he begun to get really interested in the pots .. n start asking in his prefect english .

The conversation between him n the vendor is interesting. the vendor try her best ability to ans him in her limited english , often result in broken english. but sumhow they manage to haf a transaction .

Den this auntie beside him, start toking to him , pointing to the recipes book that come with the pots.

He look like a little boy that just found a new treasure. lol .

Dinner::

makan wif selina they all .. makan at this nepal resturant. haa , not bad ..

but i just find the area abit secluded. not easy to find. lol ..

i wonder how alison find it though.

taste wise, i find it similar to astons ..

anyway , it a nice dinner wif great seniors ..

hey!

been feeling suddenly out of sorts. Feel the emptiness in inside me. i badly feel tt i may need to go work , but i feeling utterly lazy to even move.

No motivation. Simply.

Anyway, i have signed the contract with ttsh , but i haf not went for the pre working medical checkup . lol .

gotta the uniform. as i was simply excited . lol .

2 scrubs suit, n 1 dress wif those flower prints at the bottom , which mi mom said look like dog paw print from afar.

the shoes is darn ugly , but comfortable.

it always goes in this way, okie , most of the time ; ugly shoe but comfortable (like crocs, btw i love crocs ! heehee)

Always have to make a choice.

Like what life is all about.

went study wif xp on wed.

catch up wif her alot .. lol .. we told each other of the pple tt we both knew , hu is serving in the army blah blah . Much to our surprise , those skinny skinny one, look weak de .. all actually made it to b an officer/ commando.

Those muscular de, sportsmen in school , ... clerk in army !

Lesson learnt ; Never look down on skinny , weak guys !

we r miting at 11am .. but sumhow, we all feel sibeh lazy .. so we drag the time backwards... till like 12pm.

gosh, i thought i b late !

i sat dwn , ended up reading the book on "enjoy kansai" and feeling darn hungry when the tables ard me is busy cooking !

finally they all reached !

didn't tok much, feeling so tired as i ate alot .. haa ..

went makan okonomiyaki wif christine on duno which day .. lol ..

i sumhow feel it like the pasar malam leh ..

but nevertheless, when food is share tgt wif a great fren over a great conversation, the simple dish oso can become the world most sought after okonomiyaki !

i seriously think i must train myself to drink alcohol. It super embrassing when mi face turn bright red over a mere 4% alcohol ! omg. so bad .. tsk tsk ...

christine say she wanted to change her image ! Did i hear wrongly ? lol.

btw .. i am super shock tt christine nv eaten okonomiyaki before !!!!!

aniway , went for interviews these past wk .
lol . i haf to admit , i am lazy .
i only apply to ttsh.
den sgh called me on tue, asking mi to went down for an interview .
thinking , well not ?

i was worry when i didn't heard from ttsh after like one week. cos i sumhow feel i left a bad impression for the interviewers .
However, i just receive a call from ttsh this afternoon , saying they wld like to recruit me as a staff nurse !
woots.
ttsh will b mi priority , as it whr i grow .

let work hard in this profession.
isn't it weird tt i will be a staff nurse ? .. lol .. it definetly not something i dream about.

when i was a child , i dreamt of being a teacher , a doctor (lol). In fact, i always thought i will be a teacher. (omg)
When i reached secondary school, joined npcc n those outdoor activities , it changed my prespective.
i wanted to be an army officer , a police officer .

Never did it occur to me that i would choose nursing .

When i think back , it somehow sound funny to me . I was never the caring child , and all those qualities u wld think u will find in a nurse. i am never one of those.

Somehow along the route of attachment , i never knew i could change diapers. i could tahan the smell of shit .. while changing diapers, i will plan wat i wan to eat for mi break. I never knew i could make small talk to strangers, esp elderly . i never knew i would haf to put mi finger into someone ass someday.
And the never-knew list just went on.
lol. i remember when i first put in my finger into a pt ass to insert a medicine. when i went home , i happily told mi mom wat i did. My mom expression is priceless. " u mean my daughter insert her finger into someone ass ? W.O.W "

Thru the attachment , most of us develop a wicked sense of humor . We share stories that will make some pple haf terrible gag reflexes.

i seldom tok about mi attachment experience to pple i dun mit often. so when i being asked, i am glad to share them. i remembered once , my cousin asked me what i haf been doing :::::

cousin: Hey ? so what haf u been doing ?
Me: " ohh.. nth special in particular. Just been stuffing medicine into pple ass"
Cousin: ( trying to suppress his gag reflexes) oh, i.n.t.e.r.e.s.t.i.n.g! And ?
me : " erm, changing extremely blood soaked guaze, stuffing guaze into cavities .. "
while i was explaining those wounds .. i cld c mi cousin face turn green n he almost vomit!

haa.. it something unforgetable.

a duper boring session in sch ..

after tt , us n sieliu class decide to go drink @ night.

before tt , went watch bride wars.
i suprise tt i myself wanted to watch this type of movie. haa ...
but it a really funny show , n it touches mi ... it actully make mi felt like crying .. mayb i feel tt , i n other frens will nt mit out as easily in the future when all of us start working ..

after which, went waraku .. n the hungry ghosts ( les n tracy ) waiting impatiently for their food.

i like the ambience there! surprisingly . i didn't know that such a place exist in clarke quay . when we reach inside, it was rather small , den there a singer ..
omg.. he is darn charismatic despite being at 38yo. tt aside, we could haf song requests , but most of the songs we wanted , he nt very sure... but he give alternative .. well .. okie .. haa ..

haf a little wild time over there .. n we know sum well hidden secret tt no1 koe abt sie liu !! Lesley !! omg !! she arh , cheeky gal.. haa .. after 3years did we know !! but shhh ..
anything tt is say tt day will b leave at the table .. yenying french kissed wif the singer , which i think she is really brave !! cheers to her !!

lol .. the feeling is sibeh miserable .. can feel the acid burning at the thorat .. n the vomit smell .. omg .. it terrible.. on top of tt , i feel like shitting too !!

when i was feeling really miserable , both les n sieliu cldn't stop laughing ! LOL .. so much for being friends .. lol
